Dear
Fellow Travelers,
You
are at this website, probably, because I have written you to invite
you to a class that I am going to be teaching on the Liberation
of Consciousness in the 21st Century. A tall topic, but
awesome, once you start thinking about it. I wanted to tell you
a little story of how I ended up being able to offer this class.

You
may know that I lived out in the wilderness, on Panther Creek, near
the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, for quite a few
years. I was always interested in spiritual ideas, and meditation
which I pursued avidly. I'm always looking for the next cliff to
jump off - metaphorically speaking.
I also come from
a family of total geeks. I make my living working on computers,
and am well read in many scientific disciplines, with a particular
interests in history and evolution. I have a brother who is a physicist,
and a son (Jaimos) who has a masters degree in math and physics.
So I’m this strange blend of backwoods-meditator-scientific-geek.

In 1995
I ended up with a copy of, “What is Enlightenment Magazine”, and
started following the work of Andrew Cohen. Andrew is an educated
New Yorker who ran off to India to study Advaita in
the early seventies. Like me, Andrew was involved in trying to put
together the mysticism of the East, with the innovation of the West.
About
five years ago Wayne and I made it out to Andrews place in Lenox,
Massachusetts and attended several of his
meditation retreats. The retreats were totally amazing because Andrew
is passionate about uniting a cosmic world view with an inner reality
of meditation.
For
years I had been stuck on the idea that evolution was only about
biology. But at this retreat I realized that Andrew was talking
about the evolution of culture. When I looked very deeply into what
that meant, I could see how it worked, and why it was the most important
work in the world today to start evolving our culture consciously!
Wayne
and I were both interested in sharing what we had experienced and
learned. We had a problem in sharing our experience, though, because
a foundation has to be laid. Videotapes of Andrew from a retreat
did not do the work justice. He is so intense that tapes of retreats
can even turn people off because they are only catching a sound-bite
of a larger picture. Nothing at all like being there!

In 2006,
one of Andrew's closest students put together a 5-week course that
is a great introduction to the new ideas they have about meditation
and cosmology. I applied to be trained as a teacher, and was miraculously
chosen to be one of 40 people to present this class.
So
now we have an amazing opportunity to share this material together.
I am putting together a travel schedule where I will be traveling
through Idaho, Montana, Utah and Colorado
giving the class.
|
 |
My experience
in giving this course is that it is successful because of the level
of inquiry the participants bring to the material. I guarantee that,
if you come, you will be challenged and satisfied with the results.
This
course is about coming together and discussing some awesome ideas. When we
come together in this open way, it's amazing where we can go.
I look
forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Connie
Delaney
